About Me:

Hello, my name is Elizabeth!
​
I am a DC-based designer, photographer, multi-disciplinary artist, and communications strategist. I am a current student at American University in Washington, DC completing a dual BA in Graphic Design and Public Relations & Strategic Communication, with a minor in Music. I am passionate about the arts and social issues, and hope to combine these passions to find a meaningful, creative career.

Graphic Design Intern

Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum

  • Completed an extension through the fall semester after success during the Summer 2024 10-week internship program. 

  • Assisted with the design of Air and Space Quarterly magazine; create digital versions of the magazine through Flipsnack and CMS platforms — adding necessary accessibility features. 

  • Created graphics for digital ads, print ads, and social media for the communications and education departments to promote the museum and its events. 

  • Coordinated the 2024 Air and Space Museum intern takeover day with the communications intern.

Media Intern

Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC)

  • Compiled daily press clips for the Office of Public Affairs to track coverage of the museum. 

  • Pitched newsletter, blog, and other content ideas for the museum’s monthly themes that build on the museum’s artifacts and exhibits. 

  • Drafted press releases and fact sheets for museum events and initiatives as well as questions for curators at a special grand opening event.

Multimedia Staff

The Eagle

  • Take and edit photographs and create graphics for various pitches, published in print and online. 

  • Organize, edit, and prepare print newspaper layouts.

Design Club President

Design Club, American University

  • Plan and lead academic and social events for AU Design students including workshops, portfolio reviews with AIGA, alumni panels, and trips to the Cooper Hewitt and Poster House Museums in NYC. 

  • Work closely with club budget and university reservation services to schedule full-body meetings, promote the club on campus, manage events on campus or related club travel, and organize club officer meetings.

Student Ambassador

  • Conduct multiple tours every week for prospective students and their families, aiding the admissions office in welcoming over 30,000 visitors each year. 

  • Staff in person and virtual admissions events, open houses, showcases, webinars, and other admissions events.
